What is the state of al Qaeda today and what should we understand about their long term strategy?

Bruce Hoffman is a professor at the Georgetown University’s School of Foreign Service and one of the nation’s leading experts on terrorism and counter insurgency. Hoffman served as Scholar-in-Residence for Counterterrorism at the Central Intelligence Agency and as adviser on counterterrorism to the Coalition Provisional Authority in Iraq. Previously he was Corporate Chair of Counterterrorism and Counterinsurgency and director of the Center for Middle East Public Policy at the Rand Corporation.

Professor Hoffman is a member of the Advisory Committee of the Terrorism and Counterterrorism Program, Human Rights Watch; a senior scholar at the Woodrow Wilson International Center for Scholars; a senior fellow at the Combating Terrorism Center, U.S. Military Academy, West Point; a senior fellow at the National Security Studies Center at Haifa University, Israel; and a visiting professor at the Institute of Defense and Strategic Studies, Nanyang Technological University, Singapore. He holds degrees in government, history, and international relations and received a doctorate from Oxford University.
