The recent Iranian election controversy has raised a number of questions over Iran's political future. Dr. Mehdi Noorbaksh will discuss the implications and consequences of the popular response known as the Green Movement.

Dr. Noorbaksh is writing a book on the interaction of Islam, nationalism, and democratic change in Iran. He specializes in international politics, global energy and health, and democratic movements and processes in Middle Eastern politics. He has published extensively on Middle East politics in journals such as the Middle East Policy Journal and the International Journal of Middle Eastern Studies. He received his B.S. and Ph.D. from the University of Texas, and his MBA and MHA from the University of Houston. Before becoming a faculty member at Harrisburg University, he was teaching at the University of St. Thomas, Center for International Studies. Prior to that, he was a Post-Doctoral Fellow at Harvard University’s Center for Middle Eastern Studies. He is currently a fellow at the Center for International Studies, University of St. Thomas.
